eat your heart out: meatballs!

arnab and I are huge fans of meatballs. Before this year we would never have thought to make it for anything other then spaghetti sauce but right before the Super Bowl I saw a chef, though I forget who she is now, who talked about having meatballs as a snack. Genius!
I made them for the actual Super Bowl game and they were a hit and we've been making them off and on ever since.

  • 1 lbs. ground turkey (or whatever you like)
  • Olive Oil ( 1/2 tsp. to mix in and 1/4 cups for the pan)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp. Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Bread Crumbs
  • 4 tbsp. Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Basil (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp Parsley (optional)
1. Combine the turkey, oil, egg, pepper, salt, Worcestershire sauce, bread crumbs, flour, basil, and parsley in a medium to large sized bowl.

2. Shape the meatballs. We make them about 1 1/2" round, but you can make them bigger or smaller according to your dish and serving size.
3. Heat up a pan with the 1/4 cup of oil (or enough oil to coat the bottom pan with  thin layer.)

4. Place meatballs in the pan, mainly placing them in the middle and then go out, you may have to cook them in batches.
5. Cook the meatballs over medium-high heat for about 4 minutes for both sides. It may take less time and it make take more so be sure to check the meat with a meat thermometer.
The meatballs are great because you can eat them with alone, with pasta, with rice, it's just a great accompaniment to a meal.

Good eating!!
