10 things!

Hi everyone!
It's 10 things time. :)

anisa's 5 things

For my big 25th birthday (that is getting closer and closer) I thought it would be fun to buy myself a designer bag. arnab not only agrees that I should but pushes me to buy one, often. What a brother...
I haven't bought one yet and I have a list of choices that I really should narrow down.
Since green is my favorite color my eye always goes to those first, and if the bags were anywhere in the shade of mint green, it was like love at first sight (which happened twice, with the first 2 bags on my list.)

1.
Prada: Ostrich Pyramid Tote
If only this bag cheaper. Much, much cheaper!

2.
I love this one too but it's sold out!

3.
Lanvin: Happy Medium Bag

4.
Red Valentino: Laminated Leather Bow Shoulder Bag

5.
BCBGeneration: Charlie Clutch

arnab's 5 things

With summer almost here, especially with this being Southern California, being prepared is everything. A nice pair of shorts and a tank are must haves, but you also need a nice pair of pants and a multi-functional jacket. Once you grab a rockin' pair of sunglasses, you're good to go.

1.
Saturdays: Polka Dot Trunk Shorts

2.
Saturdays: Solid Pocket Tank

3.
Them Atelier: Skinny Jeans

4.
Surface to Air: Spotted Navy Jacket

5.
A.OK: Metal Rimmed Glasses

Have a fabulous Sunday folks!

and I always had the blues

Since I bought this top from Zara's I've been wearing it obsessively, and in fact wore this same outfit both last night for dinner and a couple weeks ago, hahaha.
It combines my love for polka dots and loose tops. Although loose tops aren't the most attractive I think everyone should own some because they're so wonderfully comfortable. The only problem I find is that when you're dressing in a hurry (happens a lot with me) you tend to always reach for these loose tops...

Batman! We're almost, definitely returning to San Diego Comic Con this summer and the third Batman movie is coming out this summer, woot!
I love vintage Batman t-shirts and have received many, many compliments on them.
I'm on the hunt for more, let's hope I get lucky and find some!

who does it better than we do

Last Saturday arnab and I went to the Camarillo Outlet Mall with some friends. The place is filled with shops, many of whom offer great, discounted prices, so if you love to shop and you love a good deal (who doesn't?) you should definitely think of checking it out.

We had a wonderful time walking around and shopping, though the weather took a turn for the worst (in my and my best friend, Sosann's opinions) near the end, but by then it was dinner time, so it all worked out.
Since we were so busy shopping we didn't take to many pictures but we tried.
(which is better then a few months back when neither arnab nor I brought a camera to an outing...)

eat your heart out: chocolate chip biscotti

Chocolate Chip Biscotti

A couple of years back I became addicted to Starbuck's Chocolate Mocha Biscotti, dipped in chocolate. Whenever people would gift me with Starbucks gift cards I wouldn't mind so much because even though I don't drink anything from Starbucks I could get a bunch of the biscotti, which I did. Unfortunately I can't find those at Starbucks anymore, which totally bums me out...

So. I thought I'd try my hand at making some, and I've got to say, I think I did a damn good job on it!
My mom, who had no clue what I had made, loved them, as did arnab.
(I've tried to make them once before, and those failed. I don't remember which recipe I used then, but this one was very successful!)
I got the recipe in my Betty Crocker Cookbook and this recipe is actually a "Banana-Chocolate Chip Biscotti," but since bananas gross me out I immediately took those out. Still if any of you want to try that recipe I've kept the banana parts in the recipe, and really if you want to keep or remove either the bananas or the chocolate chips you can without hurting the recipe.

Ingredients
    •    1 cup sugar
    •    ½ cup butter or margarine, softened
    •    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    •    2 eggs
    •    3 cups all-purpose flour
    •    3 teaspoons baking powder
    •    ¼ teaspoon salt
    •    ½ cup miniature semisweet chocolate chips
( ½ cup mashed very ripe bananas (1 medium))

Directions
1. Heat oven to 350°. Grease large cookie sheet with shortening or cooking spray or line a with cooking parchment paper or silicone baking mat.

2. In large bowl, beat sugar and butter with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon, until well blended. Beat in vanilla and eggs (and bananas) until smooth. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in chocolate chips.

3. Divide dough in half. On cookie sheet, shape each half into 10 X 3-inch rectangle with greased hands (dough will be sticky).

4. Bake about 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool on cookie sheet 15 minutes; move to cutting board. Using sharp knife, cut each rectangle crosswise into 1/2-inch slices.
(at this point I sprinkled some instant coffee lightly on to the biscotti, to give it a hint of coffee flavor)
5. Place slices, cut side down, on cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown and dry on top. Turn cookies. Bake about 10 minutes longer or until golden brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack.

I also melted some chocolate (Ghirardelli) I had laying around and dipped the the bottom ends of half of them (the side not rounded) with the chocolate. I did this so I could see what both options taste like and because I knew my mom would prefer them not to be dipped with more chocolate. I liked both options and I can't wait to make them again!

Happy Baking!
Cheers!

inspiration: animals!

Animal Lover

I love animals.
Just yesterday I bought a pack of blu-ray documentaries about animals, I'm so excited!
Anyway, since I love animals so much it's not a surprise, to me at least, that they've found their way into my outfits.
I have the more common leopard printed things, but I also have a wolf sweatshirt (seen here), a panda shirt (seen here), and an owl shirt (which I've not yet worn on here.)

And I have these:
Vintage wolf pin and bat ring

Betsey Johnson snake necklace and bracelet

Vintage leopard pin

New leopard print Halogen heels!
I've been looking for leopard heels since forever!
I love the color one these and they have the perfect low heel.

I'm sure those shoes are not the last things that I buy because of my love for animals.
In fact here are some fabulous animal related things I'm dying to own:
Ugo Cacciatori: wolf ring, Elizabeth and James: fox earrings
The wolf ring is GENIUS!!!

Current/Elliott: snake print skinny jeans, J Brand: snake print pants
Snake skin printed pants. Brilliant.

Current/Elliott: cropped skinny jeans, J Brand: leopard jeans
I've annoyed arnab to death about wanting these Current/Elliot jeans. They're just so amazing!

Topshop: animal print dress, Giambattista Valli: leopard print dress
The Giambattista Valli dress is too cute!

Happy Earth Day tomorrow!

we can burn brighter than the sun

Last week we had perfect weather for layering.
That's is probably why both arnab and I did this on the same day, we don't usually match.
I was hoping that it would be the last of layering and bundling up for awhile but the weather people are telling us that after our lovely heatwave, we should expect some chilly weather... yay.

(my sweater is not as bright as it seems in these pictures, haha)

arnab borrowed my amazing Givenchy necklace, which he gave me a few years back.
I love Givenchy.
And I love this necklace!
