we do it over and over and over again

It was pretty hot when we took these pictures.
I'm so used to the hot weather we get that as long as I'm not standing in the sun I'm ok.
I don't know how we were able to stand in one place for as long as we needed to take pictures but somehow we did it.

I really love this skirt.
It's loose and cute and I've been wearing it a lot.
Skirts are my summer go-to clothing item so I'm always glad when I find more for my closet.

I questioned arnab's sanity a little when he came out with his leather jacket (and when I say "a little" I mean a lot.)
I will say though, if L.A. had cooler weather more often a lot of arnab's outfit's would look like this one.

New blue oxfords. Amazing!!!

and your heart's still beating

I don't usually try to match tops and bottoms or bags or shoes, if it happens it happens- is my motto, for this look, I guess it happened.
I based the whole look off of the shoes I'm wearing.
I actually altered them, with arnab's help, by taking off two straps completely and so I wanted to try out my finished product.
(If I remember I'll post a before and after.)
It's risky business, chopping leather straps off shoes, but I'm happy to report it was a success!

arnab loves wearing ties and bow ties and wears them whenever he can.
He insists on tying (and untying when he's done with it) the tie every time he wears one and he has never worn a ready-to-wear bow tie, he only wears the ones he has to tie all by himself.
It's a nice sentiment but the process of tying either is a long one, I don't know where he gets the patience.

I've done a bunch of posts on animal prints and animal jewelry but I don't know that I've done one of actual animals on clothes.
I have a sweatshirt with a wolf on it and one with an owl and I'm always on the hunt for more. I think that they're so fun!

Here are some I'm lovin':

Marc By Marc Jacobs: dress, jumpsuit

Marc By Marc Jacobs: shirt, skirt

Givenchy: rottweiler, shark

it's fairly simple

It makes me so excited that these leopard print heels are on of my most comfortable shoes.
And my bag! I'll have to take a picture to show you all, but this one is a new one and my best friend gave me its twin last year for my birthday! They're not made by the same company so they're not actual twins but the lock-thing is identical and I've never found two vintage bags with such close similarities before. I thought it was wildly exciting.:)

arnab stole my shirt and bag for this look!
Well we usually share comic and sports related shirts because I usually by the men's shirts anyways, but never before has he borrowed a bag of mine.
Actually arnab has been wanting an identical Coach bag, but in black, mainly to carry the Ipad, it's just the perfect size.
I love this bag!

i get lost in my mind

I need more maxi skirts, they've become my go-to on the weekends.
For me, maxi skirts are a great way of looking nice and being comfortable all in one.

For guys, a great way to look nice and be comfortable (especially in the heat) is finding very lightweight button down shirts, like arnab's.
Sometimes though, lightweight can be see-through, which, if you're like arnab, is actually a plus.

eat your heart out: cappuccino ice pop's!

Cappuccino Ice Pop's

In our house we don't eat junk food all too often.
We only eat things like chips and soda when we remember how tasty they are, but if we don't think about them we could go months without them.
Cookies, cake (both most always homemade nowadays,) and ice cream are more regulars but even still there times when weeks go by and we have none of those.
When we do have them in the house I notice we don't eat them really until the weekend and I think for that reason, we don't feel guilty if we happen to eat junk food that's really unhealthy.

I stumbled onto the ice pop's on the blog: cupcakesandcashmere, where I find ideas for many yummy treats.
These are very easy to make and my mom, arnab, and I loved them.
The recipe, which can be found here, follows but I do have some small notes.
*This recipe is for coffee lovers, which I am, I suspect you can freeze tea if you wanted to try that (I won't be trying this, I don't like tea.)
*If you don't know how to brew espresso (I don't) making a strong batch of coffee will do.
*If you don't like your coffee anywhere near strong (like my mom) you don't have to make the coffee strong.
*Feel free to take sips of the coffee and adjust to your taste, aka add some creamer or sugar if it's too bitter.
I realize that's a lot of little notes but I came across these questions when I was trying out this recipe and had no one to ask and now that I've experimented and know what works I had to share.

       •    3/4 cup heavy cream
       •    1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
       •    1 1/2 cups plus 2 tbsp. brewed espresso, at room temperature
       •    2 teaspoons dark unsweetened cocoa powder, plus more for dusting

1.    Combine the cream and 1/4 cup condensed milk. Divide the mixture among the molds.  Freeze until almost solid, about
       1 hour.

2.    Meanwhile, in a bowl, whisk together the espresso, 2 tsp. cocoa powder and the remaining 1/4 cup condensed milk;
       refrigerate until cold.

3.    Divide the mixture among the molds. Insert the ice-pop sticks, piercing the cream layer; freeze until solid, about 4
hours. Run warm water over the molds to remove the pops; dust the cream layer with more cocoa powder.
 (can stay
       frozen up to two weeks)

I also made another variation of these pops where I made two batches of the cream/milk. I added the first batch to the molds, let it freeze for an hour, then added the coffee and let it freeze for about an hour and a half, and then added the cream again and then let it freeze for 5 hours.
I did it this way because my mom loved the cream and thought my first ones didn't have enough cream and had too much coffee. I found that this was there's a perfect balance between sweet and bitter.

Whether you do this recipe or not I do recommend buying ice pop molds, they're so useful!
Through the years arnab and I have frozen chocolate milk, coffee, soda, and juice; yumm.
It's great if you don't have ice cream in you house or if you want to make a healthier versions of store bought popsicles.

Happy eating!

10 things!

Hi guys!
Hope everyone's having a great weekend!

It's time for our '10 things' post.

anisa's 5 things
My 5 things are all about colored heels. I have only ever owned black heels, with some nude colored heels in the mix.
I love the idea of a bright colored heel especially if you don't wear lots of colored or printed clothing pieces.
Here are some I'm really loving:

2 Eye Stripe Seersucker Boat Shoe by Sperry
I've recently become a huge fan of boat shoes.

Quick Thinker Wcap BT by Kenneth Cole
I've always loved boots and I'm particularly fond of the ones Kenneth Cole makes.

Haskin Brogue by H by Hudson
These shoes look like a blast from the past, but in an awesome way.

Anderson Oxfords by Calvin Klein
Every guy should own a pair of oxfords. If you don't, you should buy a pair, like I did this past week.

Brad Loafer by Calvin Klein
You don't see to many young guys rocking the loafer, but boy are they missing out. A simple clean loafer looks fantastic with almost any outfit and they're super comfortable.
