so i'll be bold, as well as strong

On Saturday night arnab and I attended a Nepalese wedding.
It was for the daughter of one of our parent's friend.
Like most Nepalese parties it was filled with color, yummy food and was very loud.
This is what we wore:

I wore one of our mom's sari's.
I only own two, a black and a purple one.
My mom probably owns more than a hundred.
I love sari's, they're so pretty.
But they're also a bit uncomfortably tight around the hips (or else the sari will just fall apart) and they make you hot pretty quickly.
Still in the end I think, for how rarely I wear them, the pain is worth it.

Nepalese men, aka, my brother, have it so easy.
They get to wear comfortable black slacks, a white button down shirt, and some nice shoes.
Though I will say that arnab did have it a little tougher then the other men.
He was asked by the mother of the bride to take some pictures here and there, which equaled to about 3 hours on non-stop picture taking.
All the running around didn't leave him cool and relaxed, that's for sure.

do it yourself

 Hi guys!
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!

To start off the week, I'm going to share some great d.i.y. ideas I found on pinterest.

For your nails!
I tried this over the weekend and it would have worked perfectly if I hadn't taken the tape off so quickly!

For the beach hair look!!
Go here for detailed directions.
I tried this one out as well during the weekend.
I found coconut oil in Trader Joe's and a spray bottle at Sally Beauty Salon, though you should get one bigger than 8oz.
This worked pretty well on my hair and the coconut oil smelled so good!!

 And for organizing you makeup tools!
{something I need help with!!}
This diy is originally from the blog: P.S. I Made This and the the original post can be found here.

Congrats to the San Fransisco Giants!!
{Hopefully next year it'll be the LA Angels!!}
Have a great Monday!!

one of these days these boots are going to walk all over you

I think my Batman shirt says it all.

p.s. I'm obsessed with these jeans.
I've had them forever but put them away during the summer.
Now that we're getting colder weather I'm wearing them like crazy!

Salt Valley makes really nice button down shirts for men.
{you can find their stuff at Urban Outfitters}
This one that arnab is wearing it western styled.
Western styled shirts are the best!!

And another p.s. the Ben Sherman jackets and button downs, of which arnab has many, are always so chic, they make everything look effortlessly cool.
I'm just sayin'.

inspiration: plaid and army jackets!

Following trends can drive you crazy and be expensive so I don't even try to keep track of what's "in" or not.
Not to mention so many trends don't actually go anywhere when they're "out."
Animal print, for example, is here to stay forever.
{thankfully! ;) }
As are, in this case, plaid and army jackets!
 Every fall/winter I see people out and about in plaid and or in their army jackets and who could blame them?
Plaid is a great pattern that's usually on cold weather-wear and army jackets keep you warm too, so why not stay warm and look effortlessly cool?
I'm loving that plaid and army jackets are currently ''in" right now because that means there's a greater variety (pricing and style-wise) of them in stores.
An ideal situation for shopping!

Stella McCartney
{The Burberry and Topshop jackets I found of the paid jackets were to show high and low end jackets in plaid. This Stella McCartney is my favorite of the three, I love the style and color, though the price is ridiculously high!}

{The same thing here, the 10 Crosby by Derek Lam and the Topshop jackets were to show high and low end army jackets. The Balmain jacket is so amazing!! But, again the price is ridiculously high!}

If you want anymore information on anything, click on the designers name under the pictures or the pictures. We've linked them either to the store we found them at, or to the website we found them at.

come into my world i've got to show, show, show you...

I've been looking for a denim blazer ever since seeing one on Kristen Wiig in Bridesmaids.
I don't know why, in all my searching, I didn't think to look at the Levi's store.
 Levi's has yet to fail me!

And. And. And.
I've also been hunting for cute mary-janes and didn't have a preference on whether they were flats or pumps.
Then I found these cute ones over at Modcloth and I couldn't pass them up!
{If you're wondering I didn't go on a spending craze!! I bought these separately and months apart ;)}

It's getting a bit chilly here in L.A. so we get to pull out our cold weather-wear, yay.
When arnab saw this sweatshirt on ASOS he couldn't pass it up and I fully encouraged it.
We love L.A.!!!

I'm not the biggest fan of 90's fashion but I love the 90's feel of arnab's sweatshirt, not to mention the green is a fantastic color!
When he bought it he mentioned that the graphic reminded him of Saved by the Bell and now whenever I see the sweatshirt I think of the show
Which is cool because both arnab and I are huge fans of it!

As you may, or may not, have realized, we're a bit short on look posts this week. ;)
Mid week we realized we only had looks for one post and with crazy work schedules standing in our way of taking pictures... well here we are.
Hopefully next week will be better.

I've been on Pinterest for a while now, it's such a fun site!!
Anyway, here are some pictures I re-discovered or newly discovered while on the site:

anchors aweigh my friends, i'll see you another day

A love for anchors, and really all things nautical, runs in the family.
Actually no, not really, just me and arnab.
I'm sure my parents saw my anchor tattoo and thought 'huh?'
Between me and arnab though, we have a huge collection of nautical inspired things in our clothing, jewelry, and shoes.
I think the fact that arnab's whole outfit is nautical themed shows just how much we have of it and our love for it.

I recently added the beauty around my neck to my collection of necklaces.
So far it's been getting rave reviews all around.
 arnab found it while vintage/thrift store shopping and he had me try it on and as soon as I did I knew I couldn't leave it.
Sometimes you just get lucky like that, I guess.

 arnab is wearing Altru tank top, Hawkings McGill shorts, and Sperry Top-Sider boat shoes
anisa is wearing a French Connection shirt, vintage necklace, Marc by Marc Jacobs watch, BCBGeneration shorts, Alexander Wang bag, and Aldo sandals
