rain or shine

These pictures were taken last week when we were experiencing some rainy days.
We were dressed and ready to leave and when I realized the rain had stopped for a second we ran out to do pictures.
Hence the no jackets.
The rain stopped on Friday but unfortunately was replaced with an icy chill.
I much prefer the rain.

I love full skirts.
When I saw this faux-leather one by Free People I immediately wanted it.
And then just as soon, thought it was too short.
At what age do you have to seriously consider the length of your skirts?
I tried it on and deemed it long enough for a 25 year old.
And anyways, that's what tights are for, am I right?

arnab's been doing a bit more shopping than usual these past few months.
Though, to be fair, he could continue on this route and still not have bought as much as I have.
{I definitely need to work more on that!}
And half the stuff he bought was for his trip to China.
So there you go, business expenses.
Plus he snagged himself some staples.
A blue suit, a winter coat, and the vest he's wearing.
If you're making big clothing purchases make sure it's something that you can get a lot of wear out of.
That way you won't drive yourself crazy thinking back on said big purchases.
Trust me I shop a lot.

diy- a hostess gift idea!

A Hostess Gift Idea

I thought of this idea after I finished a bottle of juice and really liked the shape of the bottle.
Simple as that.
I thought it would make a cute vase and then when we were invited here for dinner I thought 'hostess gift!'
{In total, not including the wait time for the spray paint, I would say this project took me an hour to do.}

What you'll need:
1. glass bottle
2. spray paint
3. ribbon
4. needle and thread
5. flowers

1. Use spray paint and spray your bottle.
Your spray paint should have instructions for use if you've never used it before.
After your last coat, let it dry completely, about 1-2 hours.

After this step you can add flowers and that could be your hostess gift if you wanted but I added a bow to my bottle 1. to hide the ridges on the bottle and 2. to make the bottle look prettier.
So.

2.  Get some ribbon, with a width that will cover the ridges found on the top of the bottle.
Wrap it around tight and sew it shut, as close to the bottle as you can get.
You can also use a hot glue gun or fabric glue, this is just what I used.

3. To cover the section you sewed and to make the bottle prettier you can add a bow.
I simply made a dior bow and then sewed that onto the bottle.

4. Add flowers

And tada!
I think I did a pretty good job if I do say so myself. :)

Cheers!!

cheap and chic

It's been rather warm here in L.A.
And I've got to say, I'm lovin' it!

So... look who's back:

Moschino's Cheap and Chic line is only for women
{they only have the Moschino line for men at the moment}
but I thought it would make for a fun post title.
Plus since arnab and I are always on the hunt for discounted prices I'd like the think we are dressed "cheap and chic."
:)

arnab is wearing a Moschino shirt, RayBan sunglasses, Levi's jeans, and Zara boots
anisa is wearing an ASOS dress, vintage Moschino necklace, Goorin Bros. hat, Movado watch, Alexander Wang bag, and Topshop sandals

waiting on something good to go down

Remember last look post when I mentioned having no photographer or no camera?
Well arnab is coming back today but still I had to improvise!

I was shopping and in a fitting room, saw the huge mirror, and thought 'huh. that might work."
Since it's only for one post I think we're good to go.
:)

p.s. did I mention my new Miu Miu's?
;)

anisa is wearing a BCBGMAXAZRIA sweater, H&M shirt, Marc by Marc Jacobs phone case, Joe's Jeans jeans, and Miu Miu oxfords

Obviously I was in the fitting room to try things on.
Here's some of the things I found:
{Alice + Olivia shirt and T by Alexander Wang shorts}
The shorts are even in my favorite color!!
Unfortunately I didn't come home with them.

{Balmain skirt}
This skirt is to die for!
And on sale!
But still very, very expensive.
haha

d.i.y. chalkboard frame

 As gifts this past holiday season, I thought I'd try my hand at chalkboard frames.
The process was easy and the the supplies are fairly cheap and easy to get.
I made one for myself as well and I think these are super cute, especially as gifts.

What you need:
1. Chalkboard spray paint (like 1 or 2) or Paint (like 1)
{check you local stores like Micheal's- it may be cheaper}
2. White acrylic paint
3. Frame w/ the glass
4. Hard cardboard {optional}
5. Packaging tape {optional}
6. Wrapping paper, or similar {optional}
7. Spray adhesive {optional}

1. You can get your frames anywhere, I got mine at the Goodwill.
If you don't have the glass that usually comes with the frame or you don't want to use it, that's where the hard cardboard comes in.

2.Take out the glass or take the cardboard and slap on a layer of white acrylic paint, as a primer.
Let it dry for at least 30 min.

3. Then you're ready for the chalkboard spray or paint.
Remember to do this outside and definitely lay some newspaper down.
I used the spray and with the spray you do two layers, 15 minutes between, and then let it dry completely for about 2 days.

4. Then place the glass/cardboard in the frame and you're done!

{Additional steps I needed}
5. On the frames I got, I had to do away with the backing for two of the frames.
So what I did was add some extra backing behind the glass until it was at uniform level to the frame.
Then I taped it all down and you can leave it like that, or if you're giving it as a gift, you could cover the tape by getting some wrapping paper, cutting it to size, and then spraying it down with spray adhesive.

Gift 1:

Gift 2:
*I also painted all three of the frames.
I just painted on a layer of white acrylic paint, let it dry, and then painted it the color of my choice.
I use acrylic because it won't chip- you can find it at any craft or art store.

Cheers!

where the winds hit heavy

Soooo.
How about this wind/cold we're hosting here in L.A....

Anyway.
Sometime Saturday morning I realized I had no photographer to take pictures for the blog.
Then I figured I'd find someone.
And then I realized I had no camera either!
Both photographer and camera are in China.
Around here we call that a 'hot mess!'

Still Saturday night I went out for dinner and a movie with my friends and they kindly snapped a few pics using my iPhone.
Problem solved!

We went to go watch Silver Linings Playbook and it was cute.
I especially enjoyed crazy Chris Tucker and crazy football lover Robert DeNiro.
;)

inspiration!!

Happy Monday!!

So I totally missed the Golden Globe's red carpet yesterday because I was watching football.
Go NE Patriots!!
After months of football and two weeks of an all football weekend, I'm kind of dreading February 4 {aka the day after the Superbowl.}
I love football!

Anyway.
I did get to watch the Globes and as soon as I saw her dress I was like 'WOW!"
Who is 'her' you ask?
Her:
Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen
Do you see that insane neck!!!
I've always loved Kate Hudson's style and this dress is amazing!

I also really liked:
 Adele in Burberry
Doesn't she look so pretty!

And:
Michelle Dockery in Alexander Vauthier
That top half is too die for!
{p.s. I totally need to start watching Downton Abbey season 3}

I got all the pictures from here.
Have a great week!!
Cheers!
